DOs and DON'Ts

The Consular etiquette is much less strict than that of Louis XIV at Versailles!

  • You can check-in to rooms from 3pm, and we ask that you check-out by 11am on your last day. You may, however, remain at the Consulate and enjoy the amenities until 7pm before leaving us.

  • Breakfast is served from 8:31am until 10:29am, depending on the season, in the reception room or on the terrace made of chestnut wood.

  • Breakfast for early morning outings (between 6:30am and 8:30am) is possible if booked in advance.

  • Dinner is served at 8pm on the dot.

  • Guests are invited to meet in the drawing room at 7:30pm, or on the Terrace (Pond Terrace, Pool Terrace), weather-permitting. Punctuality is the courtesy of kings, but missed appointments are, more simply, the dread of consuls.

  • Smoking is not permitted in the palace or the consular rooms.
  • Children are very welcome at the palace, but not all the rooms are suitable. Please let us know when you book.
  • Animals are not welcome apart from wildebeest as long as they are fluent in English.
